Foster Care Adoption - What does it all really mean? Foster parenting, also known as co-parenting, is when you have a temporary obligation towards a child who comes into care. One of the best ways to win a custody dispute is to emphasize all of your good traits as a parent. At the same time, it is equally important to downplay any attempt to make your soon-to-be-ex appear to be an unfit parent. This is not to say that you should not point out instances of abuse or neglect, but certainly do not appear to be focusing on bad-mouthing your ex. Judges and attorneys have seen this too often, that we have become very suspicious of alienating strategies. True or not, we often assume that the parent making these allegations is the less fit parent. If you are interested in winning any custody dispute, you must always remain mature and even-tempered, especially when you[..]

3 Reasons Why Some Divorce Proceedings Drag on For Years
The only time any divorce proceeding can actually conclude at the earliest time possible is when divorcing partners agree to an uncontested divorce - and those instances come rarely enough. Proceedings like so do not conclude quickly. This is definitely not something you could do during your lunch break. For one thing, there is that standard requirement of a year's separation agreement between the affected couple before the divorce could be finalized. Abuses of a Subtler Kind - Withholding Love
I would bet that, more often than not, if you scratch the surface of a case of elder abuse or neglect, you will find a case of child abuse or neglect. Where does a person learn to treat an elderly parent unkindly, if not from that very parent? By now we know for sure: abuse begets abuse. The law defines acts of abuse or neglect, as it must in order to prosecute them as crimes. As a society, we are becoming ever more vigilant towards abuse and neglect within families. And this is good. The weaker and more helpless need protection from the stronger and more ruthless, even in families. But there are forms of abuse and neglect that are harder to define which go unpunished by the authorities.[..]

Now such a thing can be a difficult time especially if it was your home that was treated this way. According to rumors that are circulating, this was probably something that was in connection with the issues running around regarding priests and clerics of the Catholic Church. In fact, at present, a controversy is up and about and this is about the cases on child abuse that have been[..]

Rudolph Flesch Rocks the World of Reading
ry: The top educators in most English-speaking countries have waged a relentless war against Flesch. His crime: being correct about reading. Their crime: being comfortable with illiteracy. Rudolph Flesch wrote two famous books, "Why Johnny Can’t Read" (1955) and "Why Johnny STILL Can’t Read" (1981). I read both books twice, years apart, and had the sense that Flesch was intelligent and honorable. (My reviews of these books are on Amazon.) In short, I had a high opinion of Rudolph Flesch. Recently, however, I have had to reevaluate my opinion. Not downward! No, here is the startling thing. I am more and more thinking Flesch was among the great intellectuals of the 20th[..]

They also affirm that there is no magic connected with hypnotism, and that the hypnotist has no special power whatsoever. The effects of hypnosis are dependent on the willingness and motivation of the person being[..]

Chiropractic Care Can Put a Natural End to Your Baby's Crying
Every parent has been through it: endless hours of anguish because the baby doesn't stop crying and you have no idea what's wrong. In the end, you join him or her in the desperation, and now there are two inconsolable souls under the same roof. If your baby is crying non-stop, for hours a day, for several days, and several weeks, he or she is probably suffering from colic. A colicky baby can be spotted because he or she will be crying out loud, with the legs flexed, the abdominal muscles tensed, and the fingers clenched. A baby starts suffering from colic at three weeks of age and it can last until he or she is three months old, sometimes even longer. Around 10% to 20% of babies suffer[..]
Anxiety Attacks Can Teach - You Better Listen
Should you get an Anxiety Attack, it may impair your thoughts for a short time but there are lessons that you need to understand. For example, the attack will point out that you are afraid of something that has happened to you and it does not have to have been recent either. Experts will point out that panic, which comes instantaneously and when it gets to the lingering stage it is known as Anxiety, that the cause is because of the stress in your life and the worrying of paying your bills are a couple reasons for the attacks. I firmly believe it can and does go much deeper and perhaps back to many years ago. The reason this makes sense is because of how our subconscious mind operates[..]

Safer World Please
When Newsweek published J. Abler's article "Kids Growing Up Scared" on January 10, 1994, shocking statistics were revealed about the mentality of children in North America. No longer was childhood perceived as an innocent, carefree time that included riding bikes with children in the neighborhood or walking to friends' homes. The change in the economy, family structure, and an increase in publicized crimes against children have played critical roles in forcing kids to grow up scared. The amount of violence broadcasted in mass media has shaped the perception of safety for children and their families. Although cases of kidnappings and murders of children are small in reality, they are[..]

Why Are Parents Permitted To Destroy Their Own Children?
Why is it that when ever I turn on the news it seems I always hear of parents harming their children? I can't tune into CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, or the local news, and not hear of yet another child either being extremely abused, neglected, or even murdered by their very own parents. I'm not referring to child deaths that are accidental. By the way, leaving an infant in a one hundred and twenty degree vehicle for five hours while getting a manicure and pedicure does not qualify as an accidental death. At least it doesn't with me. However, I realize that with a good lawyer, between pleading being stressed and depressed, the parent would probably get a slap on the wrist and a prescription for[..]

Child abuse is a very serious issue in America where many children suffer from it through the actions of their own parents. Because the issue is also very sensitive, many people over react while others under react to the signs that a child is indeed being the victim of abuse in their own homes. Why They Over React? There are many other causes which are more probable of being the cause of the bruise than actually[..]
Wake-up Call - Kids in Crisis
Childhood is seen by many as a period of protection for the development of our children. It is an important social investment in our future. For example, we have laws against child abuse and child labor. Because of this we would assume that corporate America also would have the best interests of our children and youth at heart. Surprise, surprise. This may not be so. Indeed, in the process of questioning the politics of the free market system, experts on the development of youth have begun to question the impact of a money-driven economy on the well being of children (Giroux, 2009; Shor, 2005). Rather than a culture of protection, these writers report of a culture that has been corrupted[..]
Next Mission Unstoppable, "SAVING" Dianne Lang
Dianne Lang is more than a story to me. She is a friend. A real life hero, Joan of Arc if you will, who has had to run for her life from her beloved country of South Africa. A fifth generation South African, card carrying member of the ANC, this white woman, rebel angel, made it her mission to save Mandela's forgotten children. The ones who live on the streets because their parents have died from AIDS, and other such diseases. Dianne Lang is fighting a battle for survival right now though, this time it's her own. She has been targeted for death. No she is not on Death Row, (nothing quite so legal) but she might as well be, as she now lives in mortal fear from the South African law makers[..]
Bad Boy Bikers Do Good Deeds
"Dirty Biker" is a phrase we've all heard. Homegrown in our cinema, with movies like "Easy Rider" and "The Wild One" starring Marlon Brando, the notion that bikers, especially Harley-Davidson riders, are all a part of a degenerate gang intent on terrorizing the good citizens of our home town has infiltrated every corner of our nation. The truth is far different. If you were to compare the membership of outlaw biker gangs, to the number of motorcyclists across the country, the law-breakers are very few and far between. One might compare them to the number of criminals, as to the number of law-abiding athletes in every stripe of professional sports. Unfortunately, 'if it bleeds, it leads'[..]

In fact, the people who wear these wristbands range from celebrities to teenagers to the person sitting next to you on the bus to Gran pottering around in her garden. Currently there are numerous ongoing charities, such as those for cancer awareness, anti-racism, anti-bullying, and the fight against child abuse to name but a few, which are well known and which wristbands are[..]
Attitudes That Create Disunity in Families
Attitude means the way you think, feel and believe about something or somebody. That is: how you feel and believe about something. There are right and wrong attitudes. Your action will always give you away even when you try to cover up. Your behaviour determines whether you enjoy unity or not in your marriage. Lack of unity in a home breeds hatred and terror. It brings enmity between husband and wife. Hatred among brothers and sisters. It is painful when either of the couple discovers he/she has been deceived into a wrong relationship. A let down could bring disunity into a marriage. When you fail on your promises, your partner may decide not to go along with you in truth Envy is one of[..]

Predator Reform Toward a Balanced Justice System
Current predator justice systems describe an unbalance of righteousness. In other words, whereas the predator and associated parties receive minimal punishment, the victim on the other hand develops life-long emotional and financial hardships. In addition as the predator smirks toward the justice system, many bewildered victims lie confused to a chaotic justice system. In addition since litigators derail justice and experts become ignored, instances of predator crimes will continue unless predator laws are modified toward prevention of predator activities. Hence the following changes are recommended toward predator reform, which attempts toward eradicating the predator problem.[..]
Breaking the Chain of Generational Pain
In my years of practice I have heard stories of children coping with adversity such as dire poverty or a high level of family conflict. I have also heard appalling stories from my clients of growing up experiencing child abuse, molestation, or an alcoholic, raging parent. It is surprising how resilient children can be. A study documented that if a child has only one supportive adult or mentor, such as a teacher, coach or grandparent, they can overcome great adversity and become a productive adult. I am truly humbled when I meet someone who has mastered such adversity. Every family has strengths and weaknesses. Each of us holds templates in our sub-conscious mind that are the product of[..]
This Is Christianity
Mark Twain is quoted as saying; "If Christ were here now there is one thing he would not be - a Christian." The sad truth is the way many people who claim to be Christians today live their lives, Mr. Twain would be correct. A Christian by definition is a person who believes in and strives to live as Jesus Christ would live. Christianity is not an organized religion, it is not a certain denomination, it is a way of life. Recently in the news, I've seen way too many news stories of child abuse, cruelty to children, and other disgusting actions. These acts are terrible in themselves, but what also really frustrates me is when the story goes on to state that the person committing the acts[..]

Electronic Medical Records Software and HIPAA Requirements
For most patients, the HIPAA paperwork is just one more thing to sign while they are in the doctor's office. Most do not take the time to read over it, and many have no idea what it is in the first place. HIPAA actually stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and was enacted by the United States Congress in 1996. There are many different titles and areas to this act, but the main one that concerns patients today is the Privacy Rule. The Privacy Rule went into effect on April 14, 2003. This rule establishes the regulations for the use and the disclosure of protected health information about a patient. This includes health status, payments for health care, and[..]
